Hey folks, I am about to purchase my next golf (I had a MK5 GTI a while back, loved it, but since had the likes of a Leon FR, A3 Black edition) now returning back with a GTD.

It has most kit I need, but I don't think it has DAB, and I definitely know it does not have Bluetooth, so regarding retro-fits, would this be the case;

1) To retrofit bluetooth, would I just need this;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OEM-9W7-Bluetooth-for-VW-RNS510-RNS315-RCD510-Jetta-Golf-Passat-CC-Eos-Scirocco-/171197272044?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3AGolf%7CPlat_Gen%3AMK+VI&hash=item27dc270fec

And then run the wiring to the rear of Head Unit / mic in the headlining, enable BT in VCDS and off we go? Is that all I need? Not overly fussed on music streaming, just bog standard Bluetooth would do.

2 ) For DAB, its a 2009 model, and has Reverse camera and MDI, with an RCD-510, I believe I read somewhere it cannot have DAB if has the reverse camera? But later models could for some bizarre reason?

Anyhow, if anyone could shed some light on that it would be great and much appreciated, I know if the RCD-510 does not have a DAB tuner I can swap that out with a later one that does quite easily, but it's more the aerial side of things, I definitely do not want a windscreen mounted one, would prefer as OEM as possible.

I suppose another option could be to buy the RNS-310 navi unit which has bluetooth built in, then just run the microphone up? But guess that would not work with the MFSW...

Hope to hear some help! :)

Hi there

Re Q2, not sure where you read this, but when I ordered my '62 plate in May 2012, you could NOT spec both DAB and reverse camera.  I went for the DAB over the camera.

I'm sure someone else will be able to answer your question about the retrofit Bluetooth.

the no dab with camera was VW not bothering to update software and it's 100% possible to retrofit. if your going down the dab route why not put the rns510 dab in along with the genuine roof aerial. you'll still need Bluetooth kit though. pm dieselman as he has the camera and dab rns510 and Bluetooth kit retrofitted on his golf.

Or you could fit the RNS 315 that has Nav, DAB and Bluetooth all built in. You would just need the mic, DAB aerial and some coding to get it to talk to the DIS and MFSW.

Just make sure you get one with a video input for the camara connection. Not all RNS 315's have that.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies, so it does seem so far that the RNS 315 along with DAB/BT & Video In would be the easiest overall option.

So once I got that, it would negate the need for the bluetooth box under the seat, and would just need to route wires basically, for the aerial, and for the mic.

Is the DAB aerial on the MK6 golf external then? Ie is it like a sharkfin? Because on eBay there is one like this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Oem-DAB-Aerial-With-Fakra-Extension-Cable-6m-Rns510-Dab-Rcd510-Rns315-/281240384275?pt=UK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET&hash=item417b3bb313

That does not look like anything external ? Does that just fit on the rear windscreen somewhere? In which case, a case of just routing the wires to the headunit? Will there be something that connector plugs into by the windscreen already there?

(The car has reverse camera already fitted)

I'm pretty sure the Golf never got an external aerial for DAB. It's just for Nav. The DAB aerial is incorporated into the rear screen, but most people just fit an aftermarket DAB aerial in the top corner of the windscreen

Ah yeah, I know the ones you mean, but I hate those!  :grin: I had one on my A3 and it was an eye-sore (even though it didn't take up much windscreen space it just annoyed me!) so I would prefer the factory look which looks like the eBay link I posted up, although still confused how that is an aerial but I guess it is! :shocked:
