Waiting for a GTD? You Will Not Be Disappointed.
« on: 04 January 2014, 18:01 »
Collected my GTD today - originally ordered in July!

The wait was worth it I nearly changed to another manufacturer after 2 long delays. If your in the same position just hang on its worth it.

For me the GTD is the complete car - It's fast and handles brilliantly, standard spec is great although I did add the winter pack and dynaudio.

Photos to follow in the new arrivals thread when the weather improves.

Thanks for keeping my dream alive. I ordered my GTD on the 15th July and still no car (In Transit). I was really thinking of throwing in the towel. :undecided:

Build week 50. The VW online tracker is now saying--- Your car is in the final stage of its journey to the UK. On average it takes 10 days from build for this model to reach your local Volkswagen Retailer--- So all been well it should not be much longer :undecided: :undecided:

Hopefully not!  The tracker wording is very confusing - I think it should say "it will now take
ten days to reach your retailer" rather than 'from build'.

I am still waiting for mine. BW48. Not sure what has happened to be honest and neither does the dealer! One minute it's at the port waiting to be shipped, the next it's still at the factory waiting for a train to take it to the port. I have been waiting since august.

What are the reasons for your delays?

A fair few of us that did order early on and got ours in Sept/Oct had ours made later than confirmed BW. Mine was a BW33 car, but got made at the end of BW35. Our delays were supposedly due to the great hailstorm that damaged28,000 cars in July and all the catch-up with replacement vehicles that followed.

For you, 3 or 4 weeks after confirmed build week (taking into account the Christmas shutdown of Wolfsburg), it should be on its way very soon if it isn’t already. Shipping times and time taken to get to the dealer from UK dockside are variable, depending on your dealer’s location and therefore the dock it will be shipped to. Tyne bound cars seem to arrive a lot quicker than others, presumably down to that route being very busy for car traffic with Sunderland Nissan output heading to the continent on the return leg of the journey.

VW UK are largely clueless as to status, They’re at the mercy of VW Germany systems telling them where your car is. Your dealer is the same – don’t be too hard on them if they simply don’t know, they want you to get your car ASAP so they can get paid for it!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I have the same options specced on mine, I've only had it for the weekend but absolutely agree it's the complete car. Love it!

Hi, thanks for your reply. My car was built in the correct week as VW uk told me it had been. However it seems to have taken ages to make the transport trip. Like you say the Christmas shutdown probably hasn't helped matters!

In the meantime my tracker has jumped to arrived in the UK so hopefully not too much longer! :-) I'll go easy on my dealer!
