mk4 boost issue
« on: 24 December 2013, 17:21 »
Ok so I'm pretty stuck I have replaced all vacuum pipes checked boost pipes there is no play in the propeller shaft and still the boost fluctuates from 0.5 to 1.1 bar.

If I put my toe down in 5th at 300 revs it will hold boost at 1.1 but as the revs build the boost will start to fluctuate eventually as the revs get higher the boost will just sit at 0.5 I also have quite loud turbo flutter I have replaced n75 and I have also tried running it with the n75 unplugged so it just runs Westgate pressure and the boost holds steady but anything over 0.7 bar and it fluctuates.

The car has a forge recirc valve and a stage one map and a turbo back decatted straight through with n249 delete

Due to trying everything above I am leaning towards my actuator been goosed can anyone else confirm this or shed any light On this any input greatly appreciated because I'm at my Wits end

You can do a little test on the actuator by adding a spring to the outside of it to help a weak internal spring,i tried it on mine and found it boosted and held a lot better as my actuator had gone weak giving wastegate creep as the boost increased

Thought this was quite good as a quick test to rule out the actuator, the yanks do this as a mod ,I got a forge instead

I can imagine a forge actuator been pricey I could prob renew the whole standard turbo cheaper? Lol and have ya seen how much space there is its tighter than a crabs arse behind there
