disconnecting the MAF shouldn't make it run badly. As for the pipe it could be any of the breather pipes really so you need to check all over.

It made it run very badly, without the MAF - it seemed like there was no map or turbo at all! was a very big performance loss.

it will run with no power but shouldn't make an erratic idle
