my 16v knocks out 35mpg and average of 33.6 over 900 miles. My 8 v can see best side of 43 constant on a run. Valver tank is 45 on mine and plastic 47 up in the neck :laugh:

i see around 46 on a long journey and 19 around town, all mk2's tanks are 55 litres you have a reserve in there from empty mine will take about 58

there is, once u take it to the w white ,line on the wrong side of red you've got about 30 or so miles, tried and tested, lol, its so depressing when you fill up with a tenner and its still in the red

lol its even worse when you put 20 in and its only a 1/4 lol which lasts about 20 miles before is drops to above red :S

im getting roughly 32ish mpg on my 91 gti 8v- and i get 70 miles out of a tenner before having to fill up cos its in the red- i dont thash it and that just with normal urban driving- is that ok?

when i had the 8v gearbox on my 16v I used to get around 440 miles to a tank doing motorway journeys, less than 300 around town though. Now ive got a 16v box im getting 350 max! doh!

though its more fun and i have a bigger smile so well worth it....! and some guy in a smart car tried gunning it from the traffic lights the other day...what a knob. that made me smile to  :grin:

my mate reckons he's got around 400 miles out of a tank on an 8 valve and i didn't believe him but if others are as well?! thats motorway cruising for a few hours for him.

at the moment i'm lucky if i get 250 out of a tank. damn these modifications!!! (mind you a g60 couldn't get away from me the other day ;) )

i did 390 miles yesterday into norwich and yarmouth from london when i got home i stopped about 5 minutes from my house to fill up as it was just on the red and the fecker took 39 litres so i still had 16 in there :S reckon i could do maybe close to 450 if the dam gauge was abit more accurate.
