Mirror movement when reversing
« on: 14 December 2013, 21:20 »
Been meaning to ask this for ages.

When I reverse only the passenger mirror tilts downwards, and only if the mirror adjustment knob is set to the left mirror.

Is that the correct behaviour?

Don't use this feature myself, but have read about it on other forums.  Yes the mirror adjustment knob has to be set to L (left) and it is only the left mirror that tilts when reverse gear is selected.  So yours sound like it's working normally.

I believe its only the mirror nearest the kerb that tilts down so you can see if your going to scuff against the kerb. There isn't much point on the offside mirror tilting is there?

Yes, it is just the nearside mirror that tilts. I use this feature and find it really useful when parallel parking. It's covered in the manual under the 'exterior mirrors' section.

Unless you're parking on the right hand side of the road?

Thanks all.

Isn't it the mirror that's selected by the door switch that tilts? You can also set the degree of tilt to how you like it vs your seat position and it remembers your preference each time it tilts. It's been so long since I used it, I think it was a novelty at first

But that would be illegal as your facing the wrong way.
Unless of cause its a oneway road but its still recomended to park on the left. Or if its your own private road or driveway in which case just put the window down and look out of that lol.
