Ported k03 manifold
« on: 14 December 2013, 18:43 »
Has anyone fitted a ported manifold to a remapped k03s to comment on whether there was any changes to talk of? Got one laying about to be fitted with the hybrid turbo also sitting around, but the while remap has been booked it's some time away so I'm just looking for things to do.

Matt@OCD is fitting one of his high flow cast manifolds to mine on the 30th of this month, if you still need to know the answer then I'll let you know if there is any noticeable difference

Couldn't you pop out there, brave the cold and do it now to save me having to do the same? Also be a chap and run some logs too

Kind of curious as to whether it changes the sound of the car, did you also polish the runners on your manifold?

The manifold is with Matt so that's a no

We can run some before and after logs for you though, anything in particular?

Also it's not a standard one that's been ported, it's one of his own high-flow ones that he's testing with the view of selling. I'll grab some pics of it alongside mine though for comparison.

I noticed a bit more low down grunt when I fitted mine with no remap, no logs though

Was it quite a noticeable difference or was it just low down improvement?

I'm kind of put off doing it until I fit the turbo before the remap, I hate doing and undoing fasteners that go through so much heat cycling

Personally for the effort I reckon I'd wait. I only did mine as I had to take the turbo off anyway

I had one fitted same time as a dud k04-001 hard to tell if made a difference then.

Still have it with a K03s and is a noticable reduction in lag, spools up freely and is making 250ft-lb before 3000rpm although that's probably down to a combination of parts and spot on remap than manifold alone.

Seems general consensus is that it doesn't make much difference, I'll leave it until the weekend before my remap and fit it with the hybrid
