I have rejected my GTI and am awaiting replacement. When i looked in to the ins and outs of vehicle rejection i believe the law states that you must give the dealer at least once chance to rectify any issues. After that you are fully within your rights to reject the vehicle.

Correct, please ignore my previous post about having to test and video the rips, its down to Volkswagen to prove the car IS working, not down to the consumer to prove.

Sorry that you're having a tough time with it Mr Savage, sounds pretty bad! Was your car an early car by any chance?

The only issue I can offer some advice with is the G3 Glasscoat. I very much doubt that the dealership employee who applied the stuff will have been a) trained to apply it properly and b) as meticulous as you need to be with applying SiO2 based coatings, therefore, inflicting scratches (unless applied/buffed with new/perfectly clean applicators then it's easy to inflict damage).

Where abouts in the country are you? I would be asking the dealer to subcontract to a professional detailer to rectify the work. My guess is that all they are doing in the bodyshop is buffing at high speed on the machine with a polish which is too aggressive, therefore inflicting even more marks. I'm not saying this is definitely the case but it's what happens every time I've seen dealership bodyshop work. The polish and polishing pad combo needs to become less and less abrasive to refine the finish to a crisp and scratch free surface.

Let me know where you are and I'll recommend a well respected detailer in your area.

-Start/Stop; At times when the engine comes back on as you lift your foot off the brake pedal it will start rolling forward immedietely. Other times it will do nothing until you prod the throttle and then it jerks forward. They say they've found no issue with this.

-Economy; Poor MPG. They say they've updated the software and will monitor this.

In my limited 2-week experience with he same car, there are a number of ways of using stop/start (which will only work when certain criteria defined in the handbook are fulfilled):
    • A soft stop when the brake is not depressed hard, will result in the electric brake engaging, but the engine continues to run. No need to have foot on the brake pedal when stopped. Move off using the gas pedal only.
    • A hard stop depressing the brake pedal firmly will engage the electric brake and cut the engine. No need for foot on brake. Move off using gas pedal only.
    • If you are running adaptive cruise control (ACC), which will only engage over 20MPH but will run down to zero, it will automatically stop the car if the vehicle in front stops. It will switch off the engine and when the vehicle in front moves off will restart the engine and move off without touching the brake or gas pedals!
I would suggest if you car does not behave like this there is something wrong, but it is a complex and not immediately obvious system to use.

As to MPG: I have never gone below 30MPG on a journey, and usually get at least 35MPG. But can see how gunning it really cripple the economy. This is an area where individual driving technique and selection of 'sport' or 'eco' will have a big effect...

For this problem, is the regen running when you notice the car rolls forward?
If so I think its normal, regen normally increases the engines rpms, this in turn will cause the car to roll because of the engines torque.
I used to do this in my Polo Bluemotion, you could lift the clutch up and it would actually roll in 1st gear with NO throttle at all... and continue to roll....

You made the right choice, everybody... we have to remember that these cars a mass produced and the odd lemon does go through QC checkpoints and into public circulation.
Don't let this put you off as generally Volkswagen AG produce good cars

My gtd is going in for the front suspension issue and poor economy. I would suggest that the car supplied is unfit for purpose. By law your contract plies clauses into the contract requiring the goods being purchased are for the purpose you are purchasing.

the suggestion I made was for Mrsavage not something that I was looking to do.

I know that the MPG is something is difficult to prove but I shouldnt be getting 32-37 mpg around town and I am not throwing it around. im minded to just do that to and say F*** it. like MH Says its not that cold at the moment.
