HELP Tracking Wheel Alignment Problems

Im having Tracking/Wheel Alignment Problems.
My car is to low and front tyres to thin and rear wheels to wide compared to front.
We have a 4 wheel alignment machine with 4 lazer/sensor things that go on each wheel, 1st problem was to low and when on lock the sensors hit the ramp so we took the spacers off the machine and then when starting alignment on lock either way lost signal to the rears and said machine was incorrectly set up.
Next thing went to national tyres 5 min walk from house they said bring it down no luck again as arch/tyre gap is less than an inch making it to difficult to get aligning tools on.
So what can i do im thinking of doing it myself by measuring the inner wheel on the front and back making sure the distance is equal, making the wheels point straight then some toe in on the front as most front wheel drive cars do this and are not completely straight.
Does any 1 else have a good idea of diy alignment.

You cannot track rears up on the MK3 as it's a solid beam.
You can only do the fronts. Have you tried aline in Dudley?

not tracking the rears just the machine we use takes a alignment from rear wheels but not in my case as they are wider.
Im in bedfordshire that's just a little to far for me.
Need a garage that does old school string alignments lol.

Find somewhere with a Hunter proalign system, they can do pretty much any geometry setting on most cars very accurately. It'll cost you at least £70 though depending on the amount of adjustments required eg. camber, caster, thrust angle, toe etc.

No old wheels to put on or borrow?
You can do it with the string and measure method. Google that up.

Or raise it a inch or two then lower back down.

Or raise it a inch or two then lower back down.
The geometry will change though therefore defeating the object of going in the first place.
