If you can something knocked up great, can you do me one? :)

There is nothing to these apart from a collection unit! the fancy ones have a glas gauge so you can see how mcuh oil is in there and have a drain plug on the bottom!

I just need one of the more experience guyz here to input on this!

I just have this feeling, that if this is such a good idea, why has no one else done this? just paranoid android i guess :)

I've had the same thought, why are they not fitted as standard - why aren't the more widley available??

If they are just an empty "can" with hose atatchments I can't see why I can't get one cobble together - won;t be able to get them fancy filters for the top or the hoses, but the can should be do-able!

I'll see what come up with my talented toolmaker/machinist dad and brother team!!

Well a few have done it on another forum, waiting for pics :)

Clean inlets here we go :)

Just found this also (think blue showed this earlier) -

http://knfilters.com/vent.htm

Does all the oil get caught in these filters? or does it just drip back in the crankcase?

I have also been told that when the engine cools down the crankcase begins to suck air back in, you don't want any unfilter air going back in there, so maybe a catch tank with a breather hole at the top with a fliter will be the best all round?

So - as a mock up here is what I am proposing to do:

Blue peter style :)

1 liter water bottle (Vittel make) :)

Half inch hole drilled on the side at the top, with 3" rubber pipe attachedt o the hole with some lit free material streched over the top.

Wish me luck

Ok, here we go, no laughing now!

Here is the catch tank, the missus came home and thought i was building a bong , ermmmm whatever that is

I used a bottled water bottle, cut a hole in it and cut 3" of hoover pipe and taped some kitchen paper over it, this is the filter :) I then covered it in 4 layers of foil so it would last that bit longer in the engine bay

I then covered the airbox hole over with some rubber and jubile clipped it in!

Then i turned the breather pipe around, i also removed the gause from inside to help it breather a little better!

And there it is

I only started her up in the garage and she seemed fine, will find out tomorrow when i go to work if i have any problems!

So? what do you think?

If this works, i'll get the kit from the guy off ebay!

If you look at the third pic down, the smaller breather pipe from the manifold plugs into the base of the larger breather! I know it's weird but that how it was when i got the car, i think it's off a corado or something!

Cheers :)

I have only driven to work so far, 8 miles, and i have not check it yet. i will check on the way home! It all depends on how much my engine is chucking out, not much by the looks of the pipes but it all helps :)

If it aint much i may as well get one of those filter, simple and does not fill up the engine bay, i am assuming you can clean these filters? Also i have heard you can get the filter from a polo and they are only a couple of quid :)

Let me know how you get on, if it affects your performance etc.., if it works I'll see if I can get some stainless steel one made up - not promising anything though!!
How big are the ones you can buy?? 1 Litre seems a BIG bottle!
