The pair of chips i had installed last week, they required the ECU to be socketed which was seriously out of my league but only £35 to have done.

Almost forgot to mention my latest modification which I did a couple of days ago.

As some of you may know, the UK never received a TDI Anniversary and i wanted silver faced dials after having them in my 16v.
Much time was spent searching for alternatives or ways of utilising the European TDI Anni clocks and it all seemed like a major headache at great expnse, especially if i was to attempt to get the MFA display working correctly so in the end i opted to create my own ones by pulling apart 3 sets of clocks, a 1.8 SE set with 140mph & 7.5k rpm, a set of German TDI SE clocks with 220km & 5k rpm, and my standard TDI clocks so that I retained the original odometer reading and correct imperial calibration.

I thought it'd ve rude not upgrade the backlighting whilst i was at it as well. I doubled the amount bulb sockets using a Dremel and installed 4 x LED bulbs instead of the pathetic standard ones.

The latest irritant to show it's face is the dreaded droopy head lining. When i bought the car I was surprised at just how decent it was tbh but over the past week or so it seems to have simply given up all will to live and looks appalling in the rear end from the sunroof back. I'm suspecting a change in ambient temperature is to blame?

I've never recovered one before so will definitely be buying decent material and glue in hope of it assisting me in getting it looking stock again.
If it had been a hatchback i would have changed to a darker colour as i could have also fitted black pillar plastics but obtaining these for a wagon is beyond rocking horse sh!t from what i understand!

These guys sent me a sample a few days ago it appears to be of good quality and a great match for the factory grey plastics.

After offering up the US radiator cover yesterday I decided to sell it as it would have required a lot of hacking of the lip on the slam panel and I simply couldn't be arsed.

I managed to get my boost gauge fitted today though which took some fettling to get sitting correctly in the vent pod due to the depth of the gauge plus wiring &  hose. Mr dremel came out to play again and chopped a small section of the vent housing away but it was still bloody tight as i wanted to retain a functioning vent flap.

It appears to be working well and boost is peaking at about 18 psi, I swapped the standard back lighting bulb to a green led but after driving it this evening im unhappy with its appearance as the green is different to the dash lighting and much brighter so this will need addressing promptly.

This is now for sale if anyone is after a top factory specced wagon as I've just acquired a mk4 sport TDI PD130 estate. Open to sensible offers.

Just thought I'd highlight the fact I'll shall now be taking residence upon mk4 board now instead of the mk3 one for which many people of this site will know me from.
I'll be honest i slated mk4's for years but a combination of old age and the desire for more creature comforts and refinement dragged me up the Golf chain to the mk4 Sport TDI PD130 estate i picked up a couple of days ago.

Grey, 2 owners, 144k, service history for most of it's life, 12ths MOT, 6 mths tax, Climatronic A/C, EPS, 6 disc changer.

Drives really well and quite effortlessly and is so much more comfortable than the mk3 TDI wagon I've been used to. Oh and brakes that actually do something the minute you apply pressure!!

Aesthetically it's screaming out for some love, the paintwork has seriously been neglected over the years and ideally wants a respray but I can't afford that at the moment so will make some enquires with some detailers in the area to see of they can revive it a bit for the time been.

Interior is just grubby as hell and has several little niggling wear and tear marks and faults but nothing i can't sort out myself with some elbow grease and a few quid on some trim bits and pieces.

Imminent plans are to get it serviced, cleaned and tarted up as best as possible on minimal budget. Fit the EGR delete kit i already had for my mk3 then get it remapped. I guess wheeels and suspension won't be far after...and then...and then....
