Not read the whole of this thread but I am getting pi$$ed off by how quickly the back of my GTi gets filthy. The rest of the car gets dirty this weather but the back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it has always been the same for Golfs... I remember my Ed 30 and my Mk2 GTI 16v being the same...

A week after having my electronic handbrake fixed with switch and sensor replacements, my autohold switched itself off mid-journey, as I came to a stop on a steep bank. It switched back on again no bother, but i'm 99.9% sure I didn't accidentally knock it off.

On the upside, I had my first taste of ADC braking intervention today - finally confirmation that the braking part works. A van drove across my path on a 30mph road. I didn't brake as I knew he'd have passed before I was in danger of a collision, but got the beeps and a small thump on the brakes anyway.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

It's a bit annoying sometimes when you are in full control and something like this happens, it is a brilliant system though and will probably save lives.
A good thing.

+1

I can not get over how bad the rear of the car gets in this weather! It's shocking. I wash the car, drive it once in marginally damp conditions and BAM... It's filthy. Gets a bit disheartening after you've diligently washed the whole car.

I've owned a Mk4 and Mk5 and they were never this bad. It's like my paintwork has been secretly magnetized to attract dirt.

It's the same to all hatchbacks. When my brother cleans his black (metallic) mk6, the water and sponge becomes fairly soon the same colour(!), there is some amount of shoot in the rear door, from the tailpipes and the brake pads. It's down to the fact that there are great turbulence of the air stream after the hatch back. I thought it would be reduced in the mk7 GTI/GTD because of the vertical wings either side of the rear screen. But it seems I thought wrong! Anyway, I tend to be a little weird, so I like cars with some dirt on them gained on the road-trips as they seem to be used and not being stationary like in a showroom. They are made to be used after all! I'll get some proper (filthy) pics when I get mine and make a trip. It'll be the first pics here of a car after a battle in its natural habitat!!!

I'm with you on this - I do like to be able to see out of my rear window BUT I do like a car, especially in winter, to look like it is used and the road salt and dirt in winter can make a performance car look really mean!
