Selling my old Subaru RB5 - any ideas?

Not what the Mk7 has arrived I need to sell the old RB5 I was using for the last few years.

In autotrader, pistonheads and RB5 Owners Club.

Price seems right compared to the others for sale out there.

But not getting many bites. Has anyone got any other avenues that worked for them?

Indeed a good ad, I suppose the demographic these appeal to chase cars with 'expensive' mods included.

Thought the RB5 model was really  sought after so surprised your having trouble shifting.

Adds on specialist forums are a good place. You say you have posted it the RB5 owners club, but most people on there will all ready have one.

It would be a shame to let it go though. Considering what you are asking for it, surely it's worth keeping as a weekend toy. You could probably insure it on a classic, limited mileage policy for not much and it's no like it's going to depreciate anymore.

Yeah it's a consideration to keep it. I have the space just not sure how often I would drive it.

Downside for me is impatience. Once decided to advertise I just want to sell it now

Perhaps I should be more patient, as you say it won't go down anymore.

I don't want to be the harbinger of doom here but CAP suggests that the trade price for one of these, now is in the £1,300 range  - that'll be for an average condition trade-in.

Yours looks to be much, much better than that, well cared for and unmolested... so I would have thought a ceiling of closer to £2,500-£2750 would be closer to the mark. At that price its a lot of car for the money but may indicate why you have had limited interest at £1,000 more...

As suggested, you might be better off keeping it because I'm sure, from what you have said, it is worth more to you than that...

I have a soft spot for these I remember test driving one years ago with a view to having one as a company car but for some reason - the company didn't like the idea... So ended up with a Fiat Coupe 20v...

CAP isn't normally all that good an indication of the potential value of something a bit out of the ordinary though. An RB5 will be worth whatever someone that really wants one is prepared to pay for it. Surely they can only appreciate as they were a limited model and RB is no longer with us?

You might be right but CAP drives things like Parker's and folks do look at these.

I'm not saying that no one will pay the asking price at some point but the lack of interest is, more than likely, a reflection of the asking price.

The car worth, as you say, what someone is prepared to pay, so the advert is well written and contains the appropriate information, the car looks well cared for... The only remaining things are

1. Has the target market seen it... Had it been advertised in the right places... I think yes
2. Price... It's probably a little high for the market, I feel it should be worth more... Hence my advice that it may well be better to keep it...
