mpg issues coolant temperature sensor?
« on: 10 November 2013, 17:59 »
Ive had a little search and came across this thread so I dont really need help just opinions.

as of late ive been getting shocking mpg according to the computer I then found the split pcv hose so thought it could of been that but since doing the catch can its dropped even more !

Now my temp gauge does go to 90 and stays there but It takes a good 10 minutes to get to 90 and what seems like forever to drop back to 0 ive been back out to the car 3 hours later and its sitting at 20/30 lol. Im not getting any codes but does it sound like this could be the cause to my mpg issues ?

If stats sticking open I can't see it hitting 90 while your driving. Certainly when it's this type of weather in summer maybe but not winter

A faulty Temp sensor will cause MPG issues, they are only around £8 fro a replacement, may as well change it, also change the C clip as well cost like an extra 50p.

If that doesn't work Id look on changing the thermostat and for the love of god only use OEM parts.

Sounds like its working correctly to me. If you have found one split hose, there is possibly another your not seeing?

Soapy water spray bottle over the pipes showed me 3 vac leaks i never knew I had.

They are two circuit though, it's possible the ECU circuit has gone down but not the cluster circuit. Although it should flag a fault code up...
