Unfortunately the application of sealants is a specialist job and not something that should be carried out by dealer prep staff. Either do it yourself or get a detailer in to do it.

The car would have had to have been very carefully washed (as you yourself clearly do) using appropriate methodology and equipment, de-ironed, clayed, etc before they even attempted to apply the coating. It may have needed some localised correction too (even on a new car). Chances are they just washed it with a sponge and wiped on the sealant....

Question is what do I do now. I'll happily take it to somewhere like Midland Car Care for a full strip down, claying, light machine buffing and reselling but obviously this means I'll lose the Glasscoat.

I'd take it back to the dealer to begin with mate, mines in for paint issues this week as well, strangely enough their application of the autoglym lifeshine (which i didn't ask for) is quite good, it's just a shame that car has issues to begin with! ::)

Hope you get it sorted though bud.

Cheers mate, i'll be sending another complaint into the dealer tonight. They must hate me by now. I must say i've been completely underwhelmed by the service. I feel like i'm always having to tell them what they've done wrong and I don't even like having to do that. I'm such an easy customer to please even with sub-par standards I never complain but this takes the biscuit especially when you're paying silly money.

I know the dealer will try to fix the issue themselves and make it worse though that's the problem...I want them to allow me to book it in at a professional detailer and for them to cover the expense then reapply the glass coat after but knowing them they will manage to swirl the paintwork again straight after the detail! Argh!

It's a shame really because i've been really impressed with glass coat and it's beading effects and how well it keeps the car looking clean.

It's a pitty the dealer valet boys don't take more pride in their work, i suppose time dictates the level of service these days though. ::)

These are the issues i've got:

Along with an inclusion on the os A pillar which will probably need some paint after being flatted back!

That's shocking Jimble!!! Can't believe it was even allowed off the forecourt with those marks! Is the dealer fixing the problem for you this week then?

Very sorry to hear these issues chaps... the dealers really need to step up their act when it comes to paint etc. But the real problem - and to a large extent its uderstandable - is that most cutomsers really do not care that much. The enthusiast customers such as ourselves are probabaly ony 5% of their market.

That means that they will never provide detailer level paintwork care - its only ever going to be a 'wash and polish' because it does not make business sense to do any more.

Before I collect my car I will read them the 'riot act' and the principal point will be 'NO CLEANING TO BE CARRIED OUT ON PAINTWORK' - I will do it myself.

A point on AG 'Lifeshine' - I applied this on my last car. The kit was £9.99 off ebay - yes less than a tenner. The secret is to ensure the car is scrupulesly clean before applying it - this is what dealer prep processes cannto achieve as the car has to be de ironed and clayed as well as very caredfuly washed. This eans that you are sealing in a perfectly clean and uncontaminated surface - but to get to that stage requires several housrs effort which dealer just do not factor in to the cost of the process.

This kit can be bought off eBay but you don't get the warranty that comes with it.
Any problems with my LifeShine is will be straight back to the dealers, although I'm pretty confident it will be to an acceptable standard.
I may go in and do it myself
