Shaking at around 50-80mph
« on: 09 November 2013, 14:00 »
Im not 100% sure if its my phone holder making it worse but there is definately a shake from about 50mph onwards, the harder i floor it the quicker it goes away. Any ideas? Tracking and wheel balancing done today and still not much better?

Polybush dogbone mount also on.

Thought I'd mention a couple of weeks ago my gearbox mount broke and the gearbox fell onto the passenger side drive shaft. Also thought that might have buckled etc. If so it should all be being replaced in the next few week.

In need of a new clutch but worked it out to be cheaper to buy a 6 speed box with shafts and clutch than just the clutch itself!

Have you noticed much vibration at idle with the poly dog bone?

Also, do you have a 5spd box ATM? If so you can get the vr6 g60 combo for 200ish less hassle than changing to 6spd.

I think Baxxy mentioned there was a slight vibration on idle yes but has been polybushed.

5 speed is in at the moment yeah but with labour being next to nothing I just thought it would be a bit more eco to go 6sp

Price up both options dude. But at the end of the day it's only you who can decide. :)

I really wouldn't bother with a speed conversion tbh.

The vibration could be the shafts, it could also be a number of other things...flat spot on tyre or wheel?

Its really about the gains of the box, just the price that has worked out about the same with labour. I wouldn't really know if it was a flat spot really but the vibration wasn't there when I got it. Nowhere near as bad if it was..

Polybushed dog bone should only make a difference on idle, you shouldn't feel any extra vibration once you are moving, especially not at 50+ mph
