Misting up
« on: 05 November 2013, 09:08 »
Yet another problem with my Golf, following rain when I turn the blower on the screen and side windows immediately steam up, despite an earlier problem of water ingress it doesn't appear to be related as the carpets are dry, could rain water be getting into the blower ?
any ideas welcome.
Greg

The only car i have ever had in 35 years motoring that didn't mist up was a 2005 Mercedes , My ED30 steams up as soon as the outside temp drops if i leave it an hour or so .
I had  new Golf Plus 500 miles on clock for two days recently , it steamed up too !
Its a pain especially if the inside freezes

If the air con runs constantly which they do, albeit at low volume it doesn't help. Don't have that as an issue with mine though :huh: do you always run it as air con?  Bit of windows down old school stylee helps.

I can recommend the following;

1. Ensure your windows are spotless on the inside (it often gets neglected and a fine layer of dirt builds up).
2. NEVER wipe the inside with your hand, buy one of those fake chamois pads if you really must wipe the screen.
3. Get some Rain-X anti-fog (or similar) - fixes most of your misting up issues outright!
