Right,

the road tax should hopefully be £175.00 pa, 159 g/km CO2
Insurance will probably be at least 5 groups higher than the GTi if not more due to the lack of ADC and higher performance.
Servicing costs should be similar to the GTi apart from the addition of Haldex and DSG oil services.

I think it will have ADC mate, seen some videos on youtube that show the distance button on the steering wheel, and the R line estate has the same grill with the sensor cut out so the parts are fabricated already, and there is noyhing on the price list that suggests it won't have it, although we know how trustworthy that is!

Just for info for anyone looking to order an R, had a chat with the finance manager yesterday while waiting for my car to be looked at - he was telling me that they've not had any R orders as yet.  Only one bloke was interested but didn't want to order without seeing one/driving one.  Interestingly (don't know if this has been mentioned) he was also saying that the dealers will not be given demo versions, so the chances of seeing one in a showroom is unlikely - the R is being made to order and the customers will be getting the first ones we see on these shores.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that given the order books have now been open a while, I got the impression a deal could be had.  If I was ordering I'd certainly be looking to get a healthy discount given zero orders at this particular dealers.  Its Lancaster VW Letchworth btw (formally Wayside/Jardine VW).

Maybe :) I think there are too many communication issues between VW AG - VW UK - VW Dealerships.
Volkswagen AG should take care of UK marketing directly and feed the dealers the information.

Too much lying being done by VW AG/VW UK and the dealers can't sort the truth from the fiction more likely.

Has this already been discussed?

Noticed on the price list available on vw.co.uk that dynaudio and park assist are not available options on the R. What's the deal with that?

It's true, no Dynaudio until middle of 2014 approx and I'm not sure if park assist is going to be made available at all

Top of the range model and no dynaudio available to spec. The mind boggles.

Echoes of the "no pano roof with santiagos" debacle with the GTI, although you can get the Pretoria19s on the R with the pano roof so it seems. Bizzare.

Top of the range model with no dynaudio to spec YET - it's coming! No doubt they are having to sort out fitting it with a higher boot floor.

Also there is nothing bizarre about the pano roof/19s. The main reported reason that these 2 options cannot be specced together is that it would push the gti into the next tax bracket.
