Finally got my milltek all fitted up and been driving it, the resonated version is really quiet low down in the revs.. Almost like standard, but at higher revs it sounds a little gruntier and makes some brutal turbo noise :P however I found that I needed to cut a section out of the body to make the exhaust clear because it was touching at the tip of the tail pipe.

The 4mo Valance was a wrestling match to get on too.. Will get pics of the car ASAP.

Finally got pics but they're off my phone so sorry about that. I have lowered the car on spas pax adjustable dampers and 35mm springs. this is after about a week or so and have covered 150 miles since fitting. they are really smooth at the softest setting.. this does seem to have got softer as if they have bedded in or something! awesome!

It sits even front and back which I was concerned about, even better. handling is unreal compared to standard shocks and springs and massively recommend this kit for anyone that wants to use this method of lowering.

On fitting my Milltek exhaust, I ran into what I thought was a problem. The exhaust was touching the body like it is below. I thought that the exhaust was sitting in correctly as i had not been informed that the exhaust would touch like this, because everywhere I read it said the exhaust was a direct fit onto standard mounts and came with everything to fit it.. as it did.

It was when I bought my 4 motion valance and held it up that I realised that i would simply have to cut a section out of the car. The brown shaded section below. I touched over with underseal after to prevent rust.

Very trivial I know, but I couldn't find any information about this anywhere about it touching (maybe I'm blind) and just want to throw in my bit to stop anyone getting into a flap like I did haha!

The exhaust is a milltek resonated GT80, its actually free'd it up a little bit and its less hesitant. seems to make a fair bit of boost noise now and makes a nice bit of burbling, but at the same time is nice and quiet low down and easy to live with.

Tomorrow will see a phone call to R-tech.

Thanks Adrian.

That's interesting, I had the same issue when fitting my Milltek but put it down to the car having been rear ended in the past. I cut a slit into the section that was touching and bent it back under on itself.

Probably something that has to be done. The towing eye is in a different place on the 4motion also, so perhaps it is different.. the tail pipe is quite a lot bigger though.

I need to adjust mine anyway, its sticking out too much haha, not daft amounts but i want it set back in further about an inch.. only a case of sliding pipe on some more really.

That valance bracket has to be bent out of the way with any twin exit system and a 4mo valance on the Golf so don't panic

All sorted now and been driving round for a couple of days now, just want to get the exhaust tip further into the valance.. Sticks out too much for my liking haha!

Im also getting it mapped on Thursday. I just a have a question. I was told that I need to fill it up with v-power for when I go down. Fair enough, I understand the reason for higher Ron fuel and pre igniting etc. but it's out of my way to get to the nearest v-power garage. After the map, is it good to run it on just normal premium super e.g normal 98RON if I really need to?

I know it's a silly trivial question, just curious.

where you off for the remap? interesting that, id have thought that if you are intending to run it on normal ron  then it would be better mapped with this in mind?

If the car is mapped to run on high octane fuel then you'll need to run it all the time on high octane. Also run at least a couple of tanks of it through prior to the remap.

Have you got a tesco near you? I find my car rubs better on the momentum than vpower anyway. Plus it's cheaper.

I also had to bend that bracket out of the way on my milltek.

Getting it mapped at rtech on Thursday. Found a vpower garage about 2 miles from my house so no biggie really. I've ran about 100 miles since filling up and about a third of a tank. Ran my car way past the "bong".. Must have had about 15 miles of fuel left when I filled up to he brim with vpower. Going to fill it to the top before I set off down to have it mapped too, was just a ballache that I filled up just before I booked in for the map haha!
