Yea the weight makes a considerable difference. With the k300 I will be over 260bhp per ton, but the most profound impact is on handling.

indeed, it`s what I have noticed. I think I need a better suspension kit than a fk-ak coilover kit though lol
at the moment I find it very difficult to put any power down in the wet

I'm hoping a good custom mapping with linear throttle, in gear boost cap and left foot braking will help my traction problems. I'll atleast be able to power brake off the line.

Jamie, what you need is styrofoam mate, it's what I made my door cards out of, reasonably rigid when screwed in, but as its foam, weighs nothing!

No mate, mines 3mm and reasonable sturdy. It's the stuff they use for site boards to remind you to wear hard hat & safety boots. Have a look at one if you work on site anywhere.

I got mine from a local printers, managed to get an 'offcut' big enough to do 4 door cards for £10!

Just for the record, I'm not against weight saving at all, I'm all for it! I just don't think door cards are really the most obvious place to be looking.

If you are removing the door cards, then i'd strongly urge you to cover up the aperture at least, sharp edges are not good news!

I got my A3 down to 1060kg at one point, and at that time it still retained full glass, door cards, dash, and electric windows!

As far as traction goes - that's largely down to setup and tyre choice, in the wet you will always struggle. In the dry 300ish bhp shouldn't be a problem at all.
