tweaking the bluefin... what's that about?
« on: 01 November 2013, 07:17 »
So bluefin it is. After arduous research and having tried the more powerful but also much more expensive revo remap, i am getting the bluefin (but not until next month so still a few questions to answer before that).

i noticed many of the threads here talk about superchips tweaking your map if you tell them what you want altering.  As i am new to this, what things would someone want altering?

i would really appreciate any info on this as this is the last step before actually ordering the thing.

PS i drive a DSG.

thanks

As far as I know they don't tweak the map, in most cases they send you the manual map and then when you call them about the flat spot they send you the right map!!

so you are saying there's ALWAYS a flat spot??

In the majority of cases that I've seen here, DSG users seem to be sent the manual map, as a result there is a flat spot.

A new map is e-mailed if that happens and it's superb.

Happened to me as well, sent the manual Map first and then the DSG map.

No flat spot afterwards, throttle response is linear and instant.

Just turned 40K miles and the car is such a joy to drive at the moment.

but if SC know it's a DSG they are sending the map for why would they send the map for a manual?  The last thing i need is to pay 400 pounds and spend more time than needed to upload two maps.  I'm sorry but that's a deal breaker for me, if i order a DSG map i demand a DSG map the first time round.  This surprises me though since i've only read good reviews on SC's customer service on this forum.  When i spoke to Michael at SC the other day, i specifically enquired about the DSG map and he just said I should specify that when i email them my factory settings and then i'd get the map for the DSG.  Could it be that some people failed to do that in the first place?

It may not be that simple though.
As I said mkviken had a flat spot and his is a manual not dsg. Maybe its something else different by vw rather than simply gearbox that makes the map have a flat spot that they have to give a different map for.

Yes, it was my fault, I wasn't aware of a different map, as the MK5 had the same map as the manual.

SC were excellent and it took no time at all to change it over.
