Crank (timing) gear Despirately needed!! MK2 Gti
« on: 10 October 2013, 17:58 »
hi again

After removing my engine out of the car i decided to tackle the timing belt, removing the auxiliary belt first i then attempted to remove the pulley that is bolted to the crank gear after 1hr of dowsing with wd and heat the pulley needed something a little more so out came the hammer. the pulley soon popped off to leave me with the the crankshaft pulley but unfortunately in 3 pieces. as always mine has to be the most difficult to find so... is there anyone out there with one? ive rang all the obvious vw heritage gsf ETC maybe someone knows of a good dismantlers with Mk2 gti's knockin around? the cars a 1986/87 'D' reg and its a 8v engine code EV

really need one soon as so cant really wait 3 weeks for one from germany if it can be avoided?

thanks again

Lance, been trying to get hold of you since Thursday!

I can get the pulley and bolt for you, I've left another message with someone at your work again, just give us a ring when you can.

Cheers

Thanks for your replies again. I've been really busy rebuilding the engine to get to a computer. Thank you so much for trying to help me out. To matt a big thanks to you, unfortunately matt just before I was on the phone to you Paul from VW Heritage contacted me with the correct gear and they could dispatch same day for £21 so I went ahead! But I can't explain enough how grateful I am for you helping me out and taking the time out for me! Ill defo recommend you to anyone! :)

Fair enough, I'd be wary of it being a genuine part! Plus you still need a new bolt
