Read that it explains it all.

Not really. Unless I'm reading it wrong, every diagram in that link with a roof mount aerial is shown as being connected to a telephone. The Match model has Bluetooth, yet no roof aerial. I'm also pretty sure that later GTI/Ds from when bluetooth became standard don't have them either.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I believe very early MK6's had a sharkfin if the car had factory fit bluetooth. But in later cars (late 2010 onwards, maybe earlier), the bluetooth was revised and it no longer needed the sharkfin. I think the earlier Bluetooth system was rSap which doesn't work with iPhones.
If you see a sharkfin on a later MK6 then it's got Sat Nav from the factory.

MK8.5 GTI Clubsport. Moonstone grey. Queenstown 19’s. DCC. Harmon Kardon sound. Pano roof.

This makes sense. Mine has f/f bluetooth which will only work with certain older phones.

Looking on Autotrader, all the mk6 GTIs with sat nav have the fin.

Makes Sense to me to, i have a March 2010 GTD, Sharkfin, bluetooth but it won't connect to my iphone

Do want to get the Bluetooth going shortly, i take it, it would just require a new Bluetooth module (under the drivers seat?)

The small amount of research I've done suggests this is the case. Been quoted £300 for new module + the fitting from a couple of retro-fit companies.

£300? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-BLUETOOTH-KIT-SEAT-SKODA-MFD3-RNS-510-RNS-310-RCD-510-RNS-315-5K0-035-730-D-/271293681244?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f2a5d0e5c

You wont need to use the harness, just unplug yours and plug the new one in.

Thanks for that dubber - I'll have to make enquiries about having it 'programmed in'.

Just plug n play if you already have the older version factory fitted

Mine has a shark fin fitted and came without satnav but I have got Factory phone kit, (59 plate)

when I changed to Iphone a couple of years ago my kit didn't connect, got a newer version one off someone on the forum, and it was literally a 2 minute job on mine, uplug the old from under the drivers seat and plug the new one in, switch on and pair the phone with the kit.
