To be honest Dully, if you have some suspension travel I doubt all the pucks are in there (bouncing the car), then worst case if there is still a puck in there it's probably like everyone else just one piece.  If that's the case, then there is more than enough suspension travel to allow the car to find the correct ride height even with one puck remaining, so unless you are really unlucky and all three pucks are still in there, then the ride height is probably fine.

Also remember that the pucks are fitted only to the fronts, nothing at the rears so the back end should already have it's correct ride height.

yeah you are right, i will give it a bounce tonight when the Mrs brings it home, still going to have a look up the gaiter and track down a gti to measure as well

You  probably noticed that almost every shot in the Golf brochure (Polo and others too) that the ride hide is Photoshoped.

Likewise many of the official VW ads and videos show the cars with lowered suspension. I dirty trick!!

Well at least I have answered one question tonight, had the borescope up the gaiters on the front suspension and I would say the white rings on the photo's are the bump stops so I have no pucks in there

On the down side I still think it rides too high in comparison to my other golf and my other GTI's, anybody measured theirs yet

i do wonder whether the comedy arch gaps are a result of the passenger protection regulations, the mk7 was more generous in the arch gap department then our mk7 but nowhere near as horrific as the Scirocco

for me the car needs some lowering springs especially if you go aftermarket in the wheel department

Well, I know mine is a GTD, but I've just been out to check mine, and I think it looks just right. I certainly can't get a fist in mine (oh err missus), and I have smallish hands as well. Just did a very approximate measure and I have about 45mm front and back with the car in a car park on level ground (so just under 2 inches from top of tyre to underside of wheelarch lip).

Maybe the extra weight of the the TDI lump makes the GTD sit a tad lower ?

After confirming there are no transportation pucks left in there last night I have to assume that the ride height is correct, I have not measured the back but the whole ride height looks higher than my other golf parked along side.

Measurements can differ slightly depending on how well you gauge the highest part of the wheel arch, just feels strange that I can shoove my hand in there but on the other car its 10mm narrower and you have no chance.

I remember seeing it straight off the delivery truck and thinking it looked high and just thought it was on its transport blocks, to be honest it just looks the same after comparing the shots I took of it.

If you look in this thread which has featured on here a few times seeing the mk6 and mk7 together clearly shows the mk7 with a taller ride height (despite being a slightly lower car) and that the wheel offsets make the wheels really sit in the arches compared to the mk6 and mk5 which again will highlight the arch gap.

Edit: helps if I actually attach the link!
