I looked into this, but my dealings with the dealer were great, so i had no complaint with them at all, and when you approach watchdog, they seem to be looking for bad service to name and shame, which is what you have had. The issue with the car seemed to be incidental as VW had provided the engine FOC.
Will be interesting to see how you get on, i take it you won't need a copy of my invoice now?
Sandy
Hi Sandy
Its interesting that the tensioner issue to the TSI and the costs the owners face if your one of the unlucky ones throws many different elements to light as the months go on and we get further into the grey area of warranty and goodwill.
VW Germany recognize the issue by almost without question in supplying the engine F.O.C which is not dealer dependant.
As the fault is not mileage dependent either ( as many can testify ) the power and costings of the individual dealerships
is very much now in play and greatly determine how as owners you come out the other side of it. Some may try and get more out of it to boost targets or like mine they see it as a opportunity to totally screw some over.
You and the likes of Jimmy came out feeling all things considered you were treated reasonably fairly by your dealer which is as it should be with a customer service orientated business. Its not a charity organization but neither should be allowed to try and extort sums of money such as this which is what I hope Inchcape will look at and also Watchdog to expose sharp practices like this.
If you would be willing to send a copy of your invoice that would be much appreciated and useful as I fully intend to document
with all supporting evidence if requested to VW Germany the exploitation by this particular dealer.
My email address is open on my profile if you would be still willing to do this.
Alistair.
