Excellent review, thanks!! Keeps us all going!!

Can't be long for you now can it matchboy? Excited much?!

J

Well I was when the car arrived in the UK on Saturday, but given its now Wednesday and my dealer (who I spoke to first thing) still hasn't taken delivery I'm actually more f7cked off than excited.  I'm sure that will change but at the moment I'm

Trust me it's worth it. When you lay your eyes on it for the first time all the frustration will be forgotten!

For the brakes It’s all just what you’re used to. I didn’t find the brakes especially harsh coming from my Scirocco. You just tailor your brake response to suit, it doesn’t always have to result in over-braking if that brake response is the norm (it will soon become the norm). Very good brakes have got me out of a few potentially sticky situations (not recently) that my pre-VW cars would not have handled well. We’ve got a pretty good set-up there.

One thing I do worry about with the autohold/electronic handbrake pull away is that the clutch might end up getting goosed a lot quicker with this tech and having to overcome the resistance of the system before it lets the brakes go
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I wasn't suggesting the brake set-up was bad... but to assume that they are good because (to be diplomatic) they have good initial bite would be incorrect.

I know I'll get used to them again, my point was, that they don't need to be like they are... you can have very good braking and the ability to modulate the brakes

Don't bother with the wiper replacement.

The new one will be the same, unless its a Bosch one.
It'll be fine after a while depending on how much it is used.

Great write up.
As for the nav being lower in volume, wait till the nav instructions are being spoken and then just turn the volume up. That should set the volume of the nav instructions to what you want.
There may also be a button on the wheel to repeat the last nav instructions, if so just press this rather than wait on her say the next instructions.
This principal should also work with the traffic program volume.

Love your moody picture.

That would be nice, but that day is currently a long way off.  Given my dealer told me he'd put the transport request in on Monday, yet I find out form VWEO that he didn't put it in till today, my mood is less than excited to be honest as I was hoping to pick it up this week - and there's f7ck all chance of that happening now - I absolutely hate liars and being lied to.

Anyway, sorry for going OT on your thread - great review and look forward to the next one at 1000 miles!

Haha no worries matchboy! It's good to read that you are very close to pick up now

I will try and keep updating. I bought the first accessory for the GTI today... Richbrook tax disc holder, hopefully it will look a little better than the naff dealer ones.

Just standard Shell unleaded at the moment. I may try run a tank of nitro+ at some point.
