Been down the garage today to take them the air filter, doesn't fit  there going to try and modify it to make it fit.
Engine is in and running but needs a bit of tweaking, timing needs setting up and the wrong distributer rotary arm was sent so waiting for a we one.

Comments welcome guys.

Been looking on eBay last few wks at rear tailgates on the off chance anything decent comes up and it did but I missed it as I was at work so I messaged the guy and he was willing to take his starting bid of £25  the bloke was only 15 miles down the road and when I got there I was more then happy with it, it's mint condition and came with gas struts, spoiler, lock etc £25 is a rite bargain.
I'm removing the rear wiper and wash jet so started stripping it today and got it all stripped apart from the window  could not get it to pop out, might let the bodyshop do it when they spray it.

Bit of an update.
Still not got the car back yet cos garage had a few problems getting a few parts for it, then when they did get it all running spot on they had a problem with the susspention I had fitted  to low on the front and the splitter scrapes on the floor when you go over 25mph!

So I have got some new 40mm springs for the front.

In the mean time I have got myself some g60 brakes

They look better in this pic then they really are, paint is a bit rough. So

Also got the tailgate booked in for re spray at start of next month.
Comments welcome

Got the susspention sorted but have a new problem now  car wont start, guys at the garage are saying its the ecu that has failed so hunted hi and low to pick one up and the only one I could find with the rite code was from Poland, well it came today and is a different code to what it was advertised as. For f@&k sake. Its really trying me at the moment and I'm not enjoying being a vw owner

Got her back tonite  well chuffed. The garage started to do the brakes but I dint get new front hubs so could not fit the g60 front brakes, they fitted the braided hoses and rear discs and pads. So I'm on the hunt for the rite front hubs now.

Took the car down down to a local exhaust fabricator yesterday got a stainless system built up, twin 3" tailpipe. Picked it up today and sounds really good.
Now the bad bit, noticed since getting the car back from having the abf engine fitted the bonnet has been struggling to close. Turns out this is because the engine sits a lot higher and the bonnet catches on the top of the engine. So the last few days that I have pushing down on the bonnet with some force has resulted in  it creasing  can't believe it, to say am gutted is an understatement. All the money I spent on getting the body work done and I have just gone and put a big crease down my brand new bonnet :embarrassed: took it down to bodyshop today and its going to be £150 o get sorted, great more money.

Few pics of the exhaust

Fitted new 160mph clocks and stereo yesterday clocks look great but the speedo needle seems to bounce up and down every now and again?
Today started to fit the carpets and other interior parts in, very time consuming think I'm about half way there.
Really loving the golf now I have her back again. Hoping to get lots of bits done to her over the crimbo hols.

Carpets going in
