A new alternator and battery is cheap as chips and very easy to do. You may not like it atm but the scorpion exhaust will pass the mot. If its that simple get it through its mot do, then get 6 months tax. You should be able to do all that for under £200 and it gives you at minimum 6 months on the road to get funds in order. Back to alternator and battery, get a multimeter on them both first. Often taking out the alternator brushes and rubbing them down on a brick can give you a better connection and better charge.

I just missed a cheap alternator on ebay :(  hopefully my pals that are checking it out will be able to do the work, I wish I could do it myself, but I'll see what I can pick up being their apprentice hehe

spoke to my pal last night, he had a look at her, he doesn't reckon it'll cost too much to get back on the road, he's able to do majority of work, so I felt much better after speaking to him, could be back on the road soon :)

Unfortunately not, a lot of wee things to sort out nothing major, my mate is doing the work as and when I get the parts, I've been a bit tied up getting the Ford Galaxy through it's MOT as well, but I should get back on Wee Golfie November or December, hopefully get it back on the road soon :)
