The dreaded white worm
« on: 17 August 2013, 13:02 »
I've just spotted the start on one of my wheels right next to the center cap. How long is the corrosion warranty on wheels? I'm hoping it's 12 years like the bodywork, but I've got a feeling it will only be 3.

If all else fails, I'll put my Passats winter wheels on and take a trip down to Lepsons to get it refurbed.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Personally I wax my wheels to protect them as much as possible but I know at somepoint whiteworm will appear.
I am expecting a 2-3 years maybe.....

As for the 12 year protection...forget it mate

Wheels come under mechanical warranty not body so only 3 years and must have no kerb damage near corrosion area

Trust me mate, they'll do everything they can to avoid replacing it. Might be worth saving the yourself the grief and spend the £100 to get it refurbed.

Just get them all painted silver and never worry about it again. :lipsrsealed:
Its 3 years but claiming in the 3rd year is a lot harder as its vwuks 3rd party warrenty and the dealerships your claiming against rather than VW themselfs.

Sorry to hijack the thread but if you get these wheels refurbed how long will they last? Iv'e heard good things about Lepsons but I'm worried if I get them done they will only last past 12 months and then will start to deteriorate much quicker than the originals from factory!

Bit then they will look like nasty reps. I like the subtle diamond cut finish on the Vancouvers, so Lepsons it is, unless I can get a really good deal on a new one.
