Right, just had a long conversation with one of the nicest guys at my dealership where I ordered, and he's the mobility salesman (wish I'd had got him looking after my order). He;'s got no axe to grind with me and always give me honest unbiased answers, and he's been there for over 20 years, so is well versed with VW's shenanigans (a.k.a. bullsh1t !)
He looked up my order on the system and said that yes, it hadn't been started yet, however, as someone else had explained, build weeks are up to Sunday night as the factory is working 7 days a week, so said it was nothing to worry about. There were no delays flagged and that being the case (jokingly) he said he's bet me £50 that by Sunday night or latest Monday evening, I'll have word that the car was built......hmmm well see......
He did tell me that the internal bulletin over the issue with supply on rear view cameras was 100% true, and that they (and every dealer) had been told by VW some weeks ago that any cars ordered for stock or as demonstrators, that were specced with the camera, will have them automatically removed, to free up stock for existing customer orders which had confirmed build dates, but that new customer orders won't be accepted until further notice with the parking camera.
So, all in all, if he' s correct, existing orders that have been confirmed will have the camera supplied. The mysterious thing is he said they asked what the issue was, and were told by VW UK, they didn't know. It's great that the UK importer of the brand doesn't know what's going on within their own factory !
