Failed water pump, can you help
« on: 24 June 2013, 19:26 »
Basically i have come to the conclution that my water pump has failed on me
over 2k revs the temp just shoots up to 130 and the stop sign come up
has got plenty of coolant in and also loses power when it gets over 100(temp not mph )

so my question is this
A) can you second that yes it is the pump
B) i have read that if i start the car with the coolant cap off i should be able to see the water circulating if its not the pump and just a sensor lets say.... or will i just end up with a face full of scolding water? :undecided:

first off, i would say your pump has had it just by looking  at the symptoms.
secondly, if you want to know for sure without stripping the cambelt, take the thermostat housing off reach in and you should be able to feel the impellor. make sure the engine is off and cold though
