I tried a short shift on my last Leon Cupra R so the same as our mk6 golfs.
Only lasted a few days and I removed it.
The way the short shift works it just means you've to use more effort to change gear. You lose all the weighted feel as the replacement doesn't weigh anywhere what the original does.
Totally spoils the feel. I then fitted some 42 draft design bushes which were a nice improvement over stock.
Not doubting what your saying....But i thought iw would make it easier and faster?
Just get the shifter of n Ed30, Pirelli, Ed35 as same as S3 and under £30
Is that all they are, £30?...do you think they are any good. Loads of people say they are a great upgrade, how much labour cost you reckon?
I was referring to the forge ones and non genuine.
The reason its more difficult is your linkage pivots on a point and all the short shift does is move your gear cable closer to the pivot to reduce the movement at the gear lever.
You still need to move the linkage the same distance but with less leverage it requires more effort.
As already said here the S3 etc shifter is the way to go.
