Mines on track to be built next week and with me by the end of July.  Standard black, 19" wheels and keyless entry with DSG and I was late at ordering......

I like your optimism Paul, I'd be very surprised if your or my GTD arrives before 19th August. I ordered on the day the book opened and got the single allocation at the dealer. Having been through all this before I can only pass on my experience.......don't believe the ETA you get until the cars been built.

Jon, what is your estimate from your dealer?  Would be very interesting to see what a GTD gets estimated at if it is first in a dealer's queue!  Is it a big dealer or a little one?

the dealer is an average size, five sites I think. Regardless of size the allocation works the same, a lot is a slot. Spoke to them lat week and was told o the best of knowledge it will probably arrive a few days before the plate change. I old them even if it arrives a day earlier, I'll take it then, I'm not in the least bit bothered in waiting. In fact I'd prefer the current plate. Reading others are being quoted end of September doesn't surprise........I knew there would be a long wait before I ordered. I almost ordered a 27k GT 150 diesel but just knew I'd end up regretting it. At the mo have a different new car every couple of weeks from a hire company. This I have a insignia Sri with 20inch wheels. I don't suppose any one buy one of those private. Anyway, will be let it be known how things progress.
On order: GTD white, roof, winter pack, ACC, manual, dynaudio

I ordered mine from Birmingham VW one of the first gtd orders or so I'm told. Not many extras but a few. Sales guy was quite adamant that the GtD would be in the uk for delivery to me by mid-end if July. Shortly after ordering got a text from him saying pushed back to build week 33 mid sep. I will be car less by end of July and I told him I wasn't happy but u get the standard talk from be. Not impressed to say the least.

I don't know if they still do it, but when I was waiting for my mk6 to be built, VW would provide a free loan car if your car wasn't available for you to take delivery of it 20 weeks from the date the factory accepted the order. Depending on when your order was accepted by the factory, you might be eligible for a loan car, rather than be car-less (assuming VW still provide free loan cars in these circumstances). Worth checking with your dealer.
