Also, diesels are invariably cheaper to ensure than petrol.
Standard diesels that is rather than performance.

Mk6 on finance for a first car...... love it

People really do not have a clue nowadays.

Get a banger, crash it a few times, fix it when it goes wrong and you might learn a little about car ownership. Rather than doing what the parents do and having finance all your life and paying hundreds on pounds on jobs that only cost twenty quid to sort.

You can also get a sticker for the back saying 'NOT sponsered by mummy and daddy'

I know I wouldn't want want a car on tick when I was 17, only because I wrote it off after 3 weeks..........

I dont understand whats wrong with having a mk6 as a first car? I wouldve done it if I could afford to.

I never wrote a car off or crashed one when I was younger and I drove like a tit, the same as anyone else.

Maybe Im just awesome.

I never had an accident when I first learned to drive either, but I still wouldn't have got a car on finance. You'll grow in confidence pretty fast after learning to drive, you'll then want something nicer/faster. Thats the reason I wouldn't have had finance on a first car. The fact that you'll want to move on to something different pretty sharpish will make no financial sense at all. Get a banger, run and ruin it for a year, then get something a bit better when your a year older, and have accrued a years no claims (hopefully) by then.
