front door card removal (permenantly)

anyone here stripped their interior for weight saving purposes?. if so, what have you done on the front with your door cards?. the door opening lever on the mk4 is kind of built into the door card and i am looking for a way to make a working door pull lever without the need of the door cards.

Make a bracket up. Or see if something like a MK3 handle will fit the cable then just scre that somewhere on the door.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

the other week when I was at a local race track watching some of the action there was a seat leon which had been striped, they had got a flat piece of carbon fibre, put it as a "plate" over the door (they had fitted perspects (Sp?) windows ect so didn't have any door moduels, window motors speekers etc was just the door skin) bolted it on, drilled another hole, pulled the cable through (inside part only, outer sheeth was presumably too big to fit through hole) and then stuck a little piece of plastic on the end to make it easier to grab and it was just a case of pull that and the door opens.

i had thought of something simple like that but would like it to look neat too if possible.. did it look ok?.

I just left it exposed, I have to pull on the hook to open the door though, girls with long nails find it especially difficult to open though...

yeah looked good, depends on how far your going, this guy had gone to the Nth degree cause it was a pure track slag. (the trailer he transported it to and from the track in was worth more than every car in my house put togeather, by a long way...) so his interior consisted of two bucket seats, a small carbon fibre dash, a roll cage, carbon skin on the door, a steering wheel and a aluminium gear stick...

was going to take a pic... but was too cold and I couldn't be botherd, if I did I would have sent it to you.
