Wheel spacers

Surely you know how to take a wheel off your car, there is not much more to it pal

Far from a mechanic as youd get so I have no clue as to what is involved. I just had a nose on youtube and its pretty easy by the looks of it. It does mention anti-seize...is this necessary? It makes the car look far better so think il put an order in over the weekend for some.

You sure? Well a lot off hassle as I wouldn't be adding the spacers myself id get a mate to do it. Id just hate to hand it back and they have a fit ive made slight mods and refuse to take it back or they turn round and tell me I have to pay for the removal or whatever it may be

Yes I've read through all the T&C's it just states the car must be returned in line with the fair, wear & tear policy and serviced on time at a authorised VW garage.

80% of modded GTI's are probably on some form of PCP plan.

Wheel spacers are easy to install, wheel off, spacer on, wheel on.

Right, lad at VW clearly tried to put fear of god in me so I wouldn't feck about with the car. Need to read the start of this thread as to the best set to buy.

After almost 7 months with the car, first upgrade I'd like to fit is the wheel spacers. The only reason I haven't yet is due to how awful some roads are in my country. Would it significantly affect the ride quality? And would it cause me any extra wear or suspension issues? The car has been through some rough roads even been off road at one point lol. So I predict that I'll be having issues soon and I wouldn't want the spacers to shorten the lifespan even more.

I fitted spacers at the weekend. I went with H&R as they get great reviews. I went with 12's on the front and 20's on the back. When I asked my H&R dealer about longer bolts he said H&R are now doing bolt sets with locking bolts that are identical to oem.

I didnt believe him that they would be identical to the oem bolts but I was wrong. Either H&R make the oem bolts or they sourced them from the same company that make them for VW because they were identical to the oem bolts. Even the lock nut key looked the same.

Shouldn't adversely effect the ride quality.

Spacers will put extra stress on the wheel bearings and transfer additional load through the rest of the suspension but not excessively so unless they are very thick.

They may cause your car to tramline more...

Looks like 15mm spacers give the rear wheels just the right amount of poke. I'm gonna get some ordered up. Did u ever get round to getting 10mm spacers for the front?

15mm spacers now ordered for my Gti's rear end. Hopefully this will sort the stance, which currently looks gash!

Bought these. Trying to find some 40mm locking wheel nuts now, but not having much luck.
