Same sidewall on the tiguan as on the golf. Granted they are 255 40 19 but 40 sidewall the same.

Actually, slightly different bud. 255 x 40 tyres have a 102mm sidewall (approx), where as the 225 x 40 on the Golf has 90mm wall. Doesn't sound like much, but I think the lesser 10-12mm of the GTI tyres results in a stiffer sidewall that's probably not as resistant to hard impacts.

Whilst I would rather not have Dunlops (from a previous experience), I certainly won't be swapping them out unless they are dangerous, in which case VW would be involved. I going to at least give them a try before condemning them. As I said the wife has 215 x40 x17 R Dunlop Sportmaxx's on here Polo, and to be honest, they are not a bad tyre. Good life, low noise and (on the Polo at least), pretty good in the wet or dry, although the Polo has less than 100ps and the GTD and GTI's approx 200 plus and heavier, so could make a difference ?

i agree they are not an exact size match but i havent had any problems with sidewall bulge and the tiguan weighs considerably more than a golf or scirocco. I just think people are being a bit hasty in condeming the dunlops before theyve even driven them. With the mk7 suspension improvements they may well be fine.

My sidewall bulged tyres were changed as soon as discovered them - quite a safety concern. VW didn't give a rats arse about the issue. I had my suspension checked and it was fine, there were no sidewall scuffs or impact marks (which is where you usually expect to see the cause of a sidewall bulge). I argued the toss with them that they weren't fit for purpose. My dealership was sympathetic but would not help as they would not see any reimbursement from VW UK if they did. Their offer of "trade price" replacement tyres was fair, but I didn't take them up on it as the tyres on offer were cheaper at ATS online or at Costco.

Believe me, there is nothing that will piss you off more than having to shell out £480 over the space of a few weeks on tyres that are nowhere near worn out when you're in the middle of paying for the cost of Christmas.

Tiguan tyres will have a higher weight rating in likelihood (my Sciroccos both came with "95" rated tyres).

He's off today i found out.

He's avoiding you, the caller ID works. He returned my call and I made the colour change (Tornado Red) on mine and added on my dad's extended warranty.

So your ACC is officially ordered now according to Mick.

He said that he will not find any more about build/delivery times until we are into week 22 and everything for MY14 starts to get assigned. If we have to wait until week 22 to get on the schedule I doubt we'll be getting ours built on week 22. Hopefully assignment follows the logic of when cars were ordered, allowing for some options that may possibly slow the build down (like maybe doing a campaign of sunroof models together etc?

Interesting to note that the tyres on the photo Jimble posted are: Dunlop Sport Maxx GT

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=253381.0

Good spot    The Golf R came with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT's as standard on the 19" Talladegas Alloys and they were quite good actually and a lot better than the ordinary Sport Maxx that I had on my R32 before that.  The GT's were grippy and quiet, but did tend to wear a bit quicker than the ordinary Sport Maxx's.

Interestingly, the video that CraigW posted in the GTI Review thread yesterday shows the GTI with Dunlops on it - I'm guessing VW have some sort of contract with them.  Which is annoying.
