Gotta admit the base spec was what sold the GTi to me - no added options here

It's sooo much better than the competition - even vs the TT which was my other choice. That would be +£500 for the comfort pack (parking sensors, cruise control, rain & light sensors) and S Line spec for the other key bits like LEDs. And of course a higher list price and monthly payment as well!

Plus the GTi will save me around £1,000 over 3 years on fuel efficiency, lower insurance & tax!
On order: GTi Mk7 carbon grey 3 door manual
Own: 57 plate GTi tornado red 3 door manual with cruise, 60 plate TT Coupe 2.0 S Line black with comfort pack

Coming from a TT the Audi has the Golf beaten hands down on looks (my opinion) but in terms of value for money there's no comparison. Everything on Audi is an option plus TT mk2 is coming to the end of its life cycle and the cabin looks a bit dated compared to other Audis as well as the golf.

I'd say yes.
