the likelihood is that if you've specced park assist you would also have added the rear cam.
And a Golden labrador, (but only in conjunction with the white stick, you can't add the labrador separately).
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

I'm guessing that something appears on screen when you use park assist, so clashes with the camera?  Surely they could work around this by using camera footage for reversing, except when using park assist?

Ah, but as I mentioned above something appears on the screen even just using parking sensors.  From the tech glossary:
Quote
If your car has a radio or radio navigation display this gives you extra help by showing exactly how close any obstacles are.

So, if you have rear camera which view does it show you?  The camera feed, or the parking sensors graphics?  Best bet would be if they have a button on the display that toggles between these two.I really would like to know what happens if anyone knows from having rear camera and sensors on a previous Golf!

If there is a toggle button why not do that for park assist too?  UNLESS... park assist adds a sensor where the camera would have been thereby making it incompatible.  I'm speculating again, sorry.

I can't recall, but, I'm sure I remember in my mates Passatt CC who has a camera, it also shows a representation of the sensors in the MFD.

Interesting!

Another thing.  The description claims that the sensors activate when you enter reverse.  So when do the front sensors activate?  And does the camera turn off every time you take it out of reverse?

When you reverse, both front and rear sensors activate.  When you are driving forwards up close to something, you have to press a button to activate them (again, both will activate, not just the fronts).

Yes, when you go out of reverse, the camera disables.

Well I've ordered Park Assit for Rear Camera and just spoken to the dealer and he's not aware of any changes. Everything still shows as fine on his order screen ?

VW are talking bollocks saying you can't have park assist and rear camera. plenty of people retro fit the camera with park assist and it works just fine. why do they bother having a configurator if the sodding thing can't configure properly. if I get a phone call or an email saying I can't have both then I'm cancelling my order!!

I ordered Park Assist originally, then decided a short while ago to add Reverse Camera.
The dealer contacted VW to arrange this, but according to their screen this could not be done.
The dealer asked VW to get back to him to ascertain the reason this could not be added.
The reply from VW was these two are incompatible.
I wonder if I had ordered the camera with the park assist originally :-
a) Nothing would have been said till nearer the build date. Then rejected
b) The order would have gone through

The bottom line is I am not really bothered about the camera, but the facts need to be right.
