Yes he did, and closer to the time we were going to arrange possibly meeting half way. He said he wasn't in a rush to sell and hasn't advertised it anywhere else. So I was expecting him to keep it. Yet another let down

Problem is though, at my budget of 1600 it will be hard to find a 2001-2002 with low miles at this price.
