I have tried all the VW cam swaps going in 8v and 16v versions, KR 9A PB ABF, nothing has worked as well as £600 spent with Mr Schrick on a pair of cams and vernier pulley.

I agree...best cams out there.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

My current 8v has 187k on the clock and the two valvers down't yard have 140k and 220k respectivley.

Sounds good to me mines at near 159k and since i have carried out a service its running sweet and quiet really pleased

My abf was on 170k when I pulled it out ,was a good engine still but could see some scouring on the cam lobes.

Mine is 30 miles shy of 170k, running sweet, getting 35 mpg on long run, but need to change the downpipe as slight blow... Regular oil changes and changing the cam belts are the key to long lasting engines

also a key to a good engine is not having it boy raced to the rev limiter all the time that wears the engine
