Temp Gauge Not Working!
« on: 02 August 2005, 09:41 »
Hi Folks,

I've not been around much lately due to devoting all my time on the missus mini rebuild project which is driving me nuts and  taking me forever.

Anyhoo on friday night my heater matrix went pop and covered my feet in hot water. As a temp bodge I have bypassed it and things are now cool. However I used to use my heater to figure out how hot the water was (I.E heater flipping hot = water hot) as my temp gauge is not working.

So my question is this. WHat is the most common cause for this? I have changed my clocks since I've had the car and it still doesn't work so is it the sender? It used to work occasionally but never all the time. If it isn't the sender what else could it be? If it is the sender are they cheap and where from? ALso anyone got a spare heater matrix I can have for a few beers?

Right I think that's it with the questions,

Nick

your better off buying a new matrix than a second hand one.

the temp sensor is a few quid from VW. sits in the water flange. check the wires while your there

It's the black temp sender next to the blue one, on the flange from the front of the block.

My guage doesn't work either!! (note to self: fix it! ). Few quid from gsf or the dealers.

You can also fit a matrix from a mk3 which is stronger.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.
