Do Revo not do a remap that can also immobilize the car?  Maybe time to get one?

Or park the car out on the street, that might fox the low lives!!

Personally I'd take the keys upstairs with me and let them take their chances.

Yeah agree, but won't put them under the pillow

At night we now park my partner's van behind my car, so they'd have to move that first to get to the desirable car    Like to make it as difficult as possible for them (not that we should have to)

Am I reading this write? Is it a typo...?

So you park the ED in front of the van then...?

Maybe he means he drives on forwards so golf first then the van? I hope so anyway

Don't worry Mr GTD,  as Obbzi says, I drive the GTI on first and then the van is parked so it is blocking me in

They can have the van

btw, it's not an ED

Sorry to here about your car being stolen, Elite. and i hope you get it back intact.
My GTI lives in my garage so I feel it is more secure.
Maybe everybody who has a decent car should, if possible, use their garage. I live in a street of about 40 houses and only two people apart from me garage their cars.

Slightly off-topic maybe, but does anyone know if the Mark 6 alarm would be triggered by the windows being smashed?

I previously had a Ford Fiesta (the latest generation, pre-facelift) and someone broke in through the front passenger window and stole the sat nav from the glovebox. The alarm never went off and my wife only noticed when she went to sit down in the car the next morning and found the seat covered in glass.

I booked the car to go into Ford so they could check why the alarm hadn't been triggered but when I explained the (what I perceived to be) fault to the dealership, they told me that the alarm would only be triggered by someone attempting to start the engine or by significant movement - not by a window being smashed.

I was a bit taken aback by that...just wondered if the Golf is the same?

PS EliteBajan - having your house broken into and your car taken like that must be awful.

I wouldn't let them stop you getting another GTI though. Perhaps you could install one of those collapsible bollards on your drive or put up a CCTV camera as a deterrent?

Yes the mk6 alarm would be triggered by the window being smashed, it has ultrasonic interior sensors, you can test it by putting one of the windows down a little and locking the car, then put your arm through the window after about a minute.
I always do this with a new car so i know what the alarm sounds like. ;)
