My spec is now a very non premium one for a non premium car.
£26,655
Non premium Urinal Grey
3 door manual
park assist just for the hell of it
rear camera to show off with
non premium basic nav

That'll do.

Can live without the rest.

Maybe a round £27k with the service plan? When the hell do I keep a car for 3 years though??? Hmmm...

Performance pack? Not sure, depends if it reflects in future value predictions?

If resell is important then avoid that awful solid grey!

That was a bit of a tongue in cheek joke quote for my old mate Asker's benefit Lee.

Solid White 3 door manual GTI (or do I go for red? the metallics don't really do it for me and my other car is black)
Poss 19s (or so I just get my BBSs painted anthracite?)
Poss Performance pack
park assist and camera
basic nav

that'll do me.

Just need to find time to make a few phone calls as I'm working the next few days

Lucky sods. Base 330d here is 35,500's worth, without a single option added on, and the freaking things are made here.

Yeah, F30s made in Rosslyn, SA for export to Asia, Austrialia, NZ, North & South America.
For Europe and North America, F30s made in Germany at 2 sites - Munich and Regensburg.
VW Golfs are also produced in SA?

Yeah and good to have you back
Will drop you a long message as soon as I can, been absolutely rushed off my feet lately, not enough hours in the day and not enough time to sleep!!

Real GTIs have 3 doors, it's just that the mk5 and 6 look ugly in 3 door with their fat arses. Passengers can bend to get in the back or they can pay their own transport in my book!

The Leon looks nice in SC form, the Cupra will be interesting. Will see what the financial impact of a MK7 GTI is first then I'll look at other options or indeed just keep the mk6 which has been a very reliable (touch wood) and faithful (touch wood again) friend and put it to stage 2 tune when the warranty gets near the end.

I've got a figure in my head, if I can get a fairly basic GTI for that money then it's go, if not then I'm quite happy with what I've got, bigger fish to fry right now!!

I rather like the Urano Gray. Different and gives the car a 'hewn out of solid metal' look. Very Panzer. Less washing required. 5 doors more practical unless you've sold the wife and kids. Avoid the leather. Stay with 18" wheels. Get the Performance Pack, Adaptive Dampers for the drive of your life and a few cheapy comfy extras. Keep it as simple as possible avoiding the techy bells and whistles but not at the expense of driving pleasure. Less is more. There, it's already getting pricey.
