in need of help... desperately.

I'm in urgent need of somebody to help me out.

I've recently swapped my car for a mk4 golf 2.0 gti and what a mistake I've made.
The guy told me that it had been left standing for a while and that was why it was damp. Well what a load of bollocks that turned out to be. I had more water inside my car than the titanic did. It's been coming in from the pollen filter but I've sorted that. But it's still leaking from the doors somewhere or other.

My main problems though are the car is not running properly. There is no power, it splutters when you go through big (ish ) puddles and drinks the fuel.
I've had the exhaust sealed to stop it blowing and put it onto a diagnostic machine, the faults were coming up as ...

B1oxygen lambda sensor
Battery voltage too low ( or something similar )
Camshaft position sensor (g40)

I've had the B1 oxygen lambda sensor replaced and it's made no difference to the car. So I took it to Nino who put it onto his diagnostic thingymajig and it still showed the lambda sensor fault yet again.

So would there be any point in even changing the camshaft position sensor ?

I'm now in a position where I don't know where to turn anymore and I'm starting to get pissed off now as I'm taking one step forward and two steps back.

If there are any mechanics on here from south Wales who could find me a decimate problem and fix it for me for a sensible price, I would be very glad to hear from you if you can help me.

Shame your not closer mate, I would have had a look at it for you.
In all fairness though you will have to do a bit of looking around to look for possible problems, start with the basics, plugs, MAF, exhaust, boost leaks, especially around the pancake pipe

theres no turbo lol

MAF very possibly though mine is the 1.8t doing a similar thing but its only in damp weather or heavy rain i get it but it doesnt die it just splutters quite a bit all ive got left to replace is the maf, coilpacks and plugs

Thanks for the reply. I disconncted the maf and didn't notice any difference to be honest.

Any ideas why it would pick up the B1 oxygen lambda sensor even thought it was replaced for a new one ?

Oh yes, forget people get these without a turbo

the seal round this panel is prob the source of your water getting in

Thanks for the advice on the door leak, where exactly are the door drainage holes and I've already tried to take the metal plate off but chickened out when the window started to drop. So I put the window down and tried again but I found it too difficult to take the motor away so I left it. Are there any ways to do it without removing the glass aswell

drainage holes are at the bottom of the door,an you dont need to take the panel off just enough to take old seal off an fit new 1

Are the drainage holes under the rubber flaps on the bottom

Is it me being thick or do some cars not have drainage holes. I can't find them
