Scuffed wheel
« on: 10 March 2013, 22:31 »
Hi all, had a little misshap with my alloy tonight in the snow
I now have a nice gouge out the edge about 5 inches long. My wheels are charelstons and its on the polished edge. Can these be repaired or is it a new wheel.

Thanks Chris

Yes it can be fixed, Mr GTD always speaks very highly of a company called Lepsons, it would mean posting it to them but it sounds like they are the best? Search through the mk6 posts and you'll find some info.

I thort my ears were burning!

Yeah Neil is correct, Lepsons will sort that out leaving no hint of a refurb...cost is reasonable too @ £85inc vat is what I payed.

Have a read of this thread Chris..

Looking at your location Im guessing you wud have to send it as your around 6hrs away from them...

Dealer damaged my wheel when it was in for a service yesterday. They're denying it, but think I've got them to agree to cover a refurb, after a lot of agro. Will give Lepsons a try, but I will have a play soon and see if I can sort it out first. Didn't get a chance to have a proper look but I suspect it could be made a bit better to the point where it may be acceptable. It's only a scratch, like they've caught something on the wheel, rather than a scuff or kerb mark.

This is the type of thing I worry about when having a car serviced etc, and I don't always take them round the car first to make them aware there's no marks on it. It may sound silly but I don't want them to think I don't trust them [I always tell them not to wash it though] First service on R due in July, in this case I will definitely make sure they know it's not marked before it goes in.

Mine was in recently and this is what I did, took photos just before it went in while'st the service manager was standing beside me and made sure he knew himself there was no marks on wheels before handing over the keys...had a golf plus for the day, Oh the joys!!!

I always go round my car with them before I leave, just like I have to look around their courtesy car. They obviously don't trust me, so I just have a bit of lighthearted banter about me not trusting them either.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Recently changed to an Audi and had to take it back for some warranty work and like others here had my Golf damaged while in being serviced!!
Don't know if it is an Audi standard or my local dealers standard but when you drive up to drop it off for them to park it they take loads of pictures of the car. Probably so you can't claim damage has been done but this could always be used to your advantage.

Very impressed.

chris if you can wait a few weeks there's a repairer opening up in East Kilbride which has the lathe to fix polished face alloys.
