Flashing LED problems
« on: 09 March 2013, 17:40 »
Hi All,

Went to do the basic flashing led install today, using a standard flashing LED, red+Black Wire and Red wire.

I believe to wire this correctly you need to take the Permanent Live (Yellow) (ISO)off the Radio Harness to the RED Led wire.  And then Red(ISO) to the black and Red Led wire.

When doing this it flashed but the doors kept clicking at the same time?  Not sure why, what should it be wired too?

Currently the Red(Led Wire) is wired to the Yellow(Iso) and the red +Black (Led Wire) is wired to the Black(Iso) causing the flashing light to be on at all times, which is not really what I want but it will do for a while,

What do I need to do to ensure this only flashes when the ignition is off?  Thanks for any replies,

Dave

Where are you trying to put the led? And what exactly do you want it to do?

I have mounted the flashing LED in a blank switch,  I just want it to flash when the ignition is off, as an extra security measure

Is the led flash on its own? If so you could do this by wiring a relay into your stereo ISO harness. Here's how I would do it with a 5 pin 12v relay.

Relay connections to ISO harness wire colours

85 - yellow (iso)
30 - red (iso)
86 - black (iso), led -
87a - led +

Should work as long as you're yellow an red wires ain't bridged on your iso harness

Easy way would be to piggy back the wires going to the drivers door led
Gone but still keeping a close eye on it...
