I have lock solenoids here. Will do you one for a drink ( £5 ) plus postage. I'd just fix the car you have; you know its faults and you know whats been done to it. You buy another car you buy a whole list of new problems......

Tbf, that list of stuff that you have done is mainly service stuff that you would have to do on any car really ,best stick with what you know as the next car may turn out to be even more trouble even if its a lot younger,mk3 is cheap to buy ,easy to fix,one day you will get to the end of that jobs to do list then what will you do ,im nowhere near the end and it does my head in somedays but I accept it as an old car that's  allways going have a fault or two so i just carry on as I know a newer car will cost me a lot more in the long run .

go to this link...

http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?1754244-diy-for-fixing-your-window-regulators..lots-of-pics

maybe this is all that it will take and the fix will be less than a quid...

I leaned on my back window and now it will go down but not back up...and drops just a little bit after i close it by hand.

I have not taken apart the door to see what the problem is..(probably busted a clip (I hope!) or killed the whole mechanism....

Anyways good luck as taking the door apart will cost you nothing...I don't know how easy they are to get back on though!...

I bought my golf with one window that didn't work (back). Apparently the insurance company botched the job and the owner got sick of her golf and sold it to me..for £250 with 8 months MOT and road tax.

Mine has got a million things wrong with it..but will keep driving it for now!!

You are not the only one with a faulty golf!

Good luck!
