Last weeks episode was a teeny bit better, but this one was also very very good.   I was laughing pretty much the entire way through the Rover / Fiat OAP mobile segment.  Clarkson has got better and better at comedy timing, faces, and using different tones for comedy effect (e.g. everytime he says "the baby Jeeesus")

It wasn't entirely them aiming at OAPs, but setting themselves up for how hairbrained their ideas were & how skewed their viewpoint is.

If you or family were offended then that is your choice, there is always 5th gear, or reviews of cars online, both of which are of a less entertainment oriented theme & feature things like comparisons of glovebox storage capacity  :nerd:

Indeed, A lot of people moan about TG, but tune in every week.  It's been more about entertainment for years now.  I'm sure if the 5 or 6 of you that hate it stop watching, they'll still get by with the few million viewers they probably get every week anyway.

Howeveeeeeer, swearing before the watershed is very naughty.  As it's shot in advance, they must have changed the rules or it would have been edited out or beeped.

That contemplation room could have literally been my grand parents house!

When did they swear?

From an entertainment point of view o found it hilarious and brilliant.  Last weeks was much better car wise and I think possibly a bit more balance I.e another decent car review and maybe shorten the star in a reasonably priced car a bit.

My mum said best episode ever as did my dad. Thoroughly enjoyed the RR test and that 6 wheel drive thing, what a beast! Love that they review other machines too.

The OAP car I gotta show my 83 year old grandad, he'll find it hilarious.  Think they're getting there with format slowly. Car review which I thought was good and showed the capabilities of the RR well. Then the star bit for those that like famous people and then comedy throughout.

Like I said maybe another review would be good.

Hammonds acting is appalling though.

Where all my moneys went.

I enjoyed the range rover part, that self driving army vehicle is superb, will save so many lives.
My other halfs dad works for the MOD and spend 6 months in afganistan last year and knows quite a bit about it, although he's not alowed to say anything.

I've driven that range rover and its got to be one of the best cars ive driven.

Not technically swearing though is it? It's a child born out of wedlock.

It's hardly the C word... :lipsrsealed:

The show itself is still entertaining imo but some of it could do with a facelift, i don't mind some of the daft stuff they do but some of it is a bit too stupid tbh.
The old dears that went out with them in the car seemed fine to me and lets be honest who's never come across an old fella that should have hung his keys up a few years ago??

i thought it was ok, nowere near as good as they used to be a few years ago, but ill still watch it, i think the star in the reasonably priced car is getting boring now, only one ive found interesting was the one with the hot scotish singer girl

as said its more entertainment than car program now, but i like it, i would happily watch it if they just did the car chalanges were they get given 1k to spend on a car and then have to do tests.

lets see what the christmas special is like.

and yeah i noticed that they keep slipping in the odd s bomb before the watershed. tutt tutt.

and thom, did your going on about how they "ripped the elderly to bits", did you get so offended when they made a epesode about lorry drivers and ripped them, or when they ripp any other group/steriotype? every joke has someone at the butt of it and im sure that any old person that saw it would have found it funny/amusing and wouldnt have taken offence, or atleast no elderly people i know would have.

Could prevent folk getting IED'd, but they need to protect the LIDAR unit on top otherwise it won't be long before insurgents realise, shoot the large fancy thing on top of the truck (that moves at ~30mph max) = free supplies

I'm not easily offended, and the program didn't offend me at all.  TG is scraping the barrel, and has been doing for some years now, poking fun at the elderly, and preying on their naivety, and vulnrability is not the way forward in my opinion, it's simply showing that the format of the program is desperate for change
