RCD 510
« on: 25 January 2013, 14:37 »
Hi Guys,

I currently have a RCD 310 stereo in my Golf with the VW integrated bluetooth.  It is the one that has a seperate little screen (about half the size of a tom tom) allowing the bluetooth to be controlled.

I have managed to get my hands on a RCD 510 stereo from a 60 plate scirocco very cheap.  The thing is at present the RCD 510 does not have bluetooth fitted to it.

My question is the bluetooth inside the stereo itself or is located somewhere else? (seprate module that bolts in to the back of the stereo perhaps?) unsure if this would make it VW OEM genuine kit, a Mobridge VW CAN kit, or a Fiscon Basic Plus kit.  If anyone knows the answer to this, this would also be helpful

I am wondering if i connect it into my car would the bluetooth work?

Any help much appreciated

Sham

The bluetooth is separate to the radio, so your bluetooth touch should carry on working when you have swapped the radio.

Personally I'd ditch the touch and fit an integrated factory system. It's much neater as you don't see it and it works using either the RCD510 touch screen and DIS with MFSW controls.

Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I was under the impression this is the system I already have just with the touch pad in addition???

I assumed when I fit the RCD 510 I would be able to control the phone through the screen of the radio as well as through the touch pad?

Unfortunately not mate, the touch is a standalone system fitted by the dealers.

Yes, it is.

But, you can sell the touch screen accessory and buy the module and cable and you will have a fully integrated phone system which is very slick in operation and worth the extra few £££s

Agreed Jimble, just fitted one myself, so much easier to use & better looking than the 310! Plenty of bluetooth modules on the net, & quite an easy retro fit according to info on here.
